Closed Circuit Test Rig: Reynolds apparatus for demonstration of streamlined and turbulent flow
a) Apparatus consists of an M.S. supply tank of size 30 liters. Fitted with suitable flow damping sieves. A transparent tube of about 1.0m lengths is attached to an elliptical inlet and is provided with a control valve to obtain the required flow rate in the tube. A small can with suitable needle and valve is provided for injecting dye in the transparent tube for flow visualisation. A stopwatch and an M.S. collecting tank of size 35 liters. With gauge glass scale fitting, a drain valve, a bend are provided to measure the flow rate.
b) A 220 volt AC, 0.5 HP, single phase monoblock ISI pumpset with suitable pipe fittings, strainer foot valve, and a switch is provided to supply water to the test rig.
c) A sump tank of size 200 liters with suitable drain is provided to store the water. A strong iron stand fitted with wheels supports the complete test rig. The unit is moveable.
All tanks are provided with FRP lining for total rust protection
